Age Limit
- Candidates should be between 25 and 40 years of age.
- Applicants must have been born between 02 January 1986 and 01 January 2001, including both dates. Applicable age relaxation is available to eligible reserved-category candidates as per the Kerala PSC General Conditions, subject to the maximum age limit specified in the notification.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have:
- - SSLC or equivalent qualification recognized by the Government of India or Government of Kerala.
- - A valid motor boat driving licence issued by the competent authority to drive a motor boat.
- - At least 3 years of experience as a Boat Driver.
- - Basic knowledge of motor boat engine mechanism.
- - Ability to carry out minor repairs to a motor boat.
- - Ability to swim.
The boat-driving proficiency, engine knowledge and minor-repair skills will be assessed through a practical test conducted by Kerala PSC.
Swimming Test
Candidates must qualify in both swimming requirements:
- 1. Complete 50 metres swimming within 2 minutes.
- 2. Demonstrate the ability to float for 2 minutes in the deeper portion of the swimming pool.
- Both events must be successfully completed to qualify in the swimming test. Physical Standards
Candidates must satisfy the following physical requirements:
- - Minimum Height: 168 cm
- - Minimum Chest: 81 cm
- - Minimum Chest Expansion: 5 cm
For SC/ST candidates, the minimum height is 160 cm, but the 5 cm chest-expansion requirement remains applicable.
Physical Efficiency Test
Candidates must qualify in any 5 out of the following 8 events under the National Physical Efficiency One Star Standard for men:
Event One Star Standard
- 100 Metres Run - 14 seconds
- High Jump - 132.2 cm
- Long Jump - 457.2 cm
- Putting the Shot – 7264 g - 609.6 cm
- Throwing the Cricket Ball - 6096 cm
- Rope Climbing – Hands Only - 365.8 cm
- Pull-ups / Chinning - 8 times
- 1500 Metres Run - 5 minutes 44 seconds
The physical measurements will be checked before the Physical Efficiency Test. Candidates who do not meet the prescribed measurements will not proceed to the next stage.
Medical Standards
Candidates must satisfy the prescribed medical standards.
The notification specifies, among other requirements:
- Perfect hearing
- Distant vision: 6/6 Snellen in both eyes
- Near vision: 0.5 Snellen in both eyes
- Normal colour vision
- No night blindness
- Free movement of muscles and joints
- Normal nervous system
The required medical certificate consists of two parts. Part A must be obtained from an Ophthalmologist in Government service, while Part B must be obtained from a Government Medical Officer not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon/Junior Consultant.
